Adding the Y code on an individual pupil session basis – Updated 11/06/2020

UPDATE 11/06/2020 10:45

Capita have now issued patch 25870 which supersedes patches 25829 and 25863.

The patch is available for all schools and will enable codes Y, 7, 8 & 9

Hosted Schools: Please log a case with the Service Desk. The patch will then be applied to your database overnight.

Non Hosted Schools: Please log a case with the Service Desk. The patch will then be released to you via SOLUS 3.

UPDATE: 02/06/2020 16:00

Capita have issued a further update stating that they withdrew patch 25829 prematurely as it allows primary schools to manually enter a Y code in their AM and PM registration sessions so is still valid for that scenario.

The missing functionality is for secondary schools and other establishments that use Lesson Monitor to record attendance for individual sessions and lessons.

Capita are working on a further patch that will address this which they are aiming to release later this week.

UPDATE: 02/06/2020 12:00

Capita have advised that although patch 25829 will enable the Y code to be entered directly into the register it is missing functionality that should of originally been included.

With this in mind Capita have withdrawn the patch and are currently working on an updated version with full functionality which they are expecting to re-release later this week.

If you have already had the patch applied you do not need to have the new patch applied unless you are having an issue with functionality relating to the Y code.

Following advice from the DfE it has become clear that schools will need to be able to use the Y code in a more flexible manner to complete registers while the coronavirus is still prevalent.

With this in mind, the SIMS 7 Summer Release 2020 will make it possible for schools to enter the Y code on an individual pupil session basis as well as via Focus | Attendance/Lesson Monitor | Exceptional Circumstances.

Capita have also produced Patch 25829 which is available to add this flexibility before the SIMS 7 Summer Release 2020.

This patch will not automatically be applied to all schools.

Hosted Schools: Please log a case with the Service Desk. The patch will then be applied to your database overnight.

Non Hosted Schools: Please log a case with the Service Desk. The patch will then be released to you via SOLUS 3.
