Further information on entering codes 7,8 & 9 and using the Daily Attendance Report
|02/06/2020|| The attendance codes to be used have changed and to find full details on the circumstances where an X, C and Y code should be used, please see the following link : DfE Attendance Guidance
It is possible to bulk update Attendance Codes X and C via the routine Focus | Attendance/Lesson Monitor | Enter a Code over a Date Range. Set the Date filters as required, set the cohort to ‘Individual Pupils/Students’, Click Search. Select the Code eg. X and then click the Year column to set all the pupils/students into Year Group Order. Using the Shift Key you can ‘block select’ a set of pupils. Then use the Ctrl Key to deselect any pupils who are eligible for a school place eg. Key Worker Pupils, Vulnerable pupils. Click ‘Apply’ to save the code across the select pupils/students.
Y codes can also be added in bulk. See https://faq.scomis.org/kb8495/
Capita have released a patch 25829 that enables the Y code to be entered directly on the register. Non-Hosted schools can deploy this patch via Solus. Scomis Hosted Schools will need to request this patch to be applied by logging a case with the Scomis Service Desk. See Adding a Y code on Individual Pupil Registers
Capita have also provided patch 25863, available to non-hosted schools via Solus and by request through the Scomis Service Desk for schools whose data is hosted by Scomis. This patch will add Attendance Codes 7,8 & 9 to SIMS in order to differentiate between illness codes for suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19, shielding and household isolation. These additional codes are not mandatory but would be useful for analysis and Capita have provided a report (link below) to extract attendance data for use on the ‘Educational Status Setting Form’:
The Capita Report can be downloaded here : Covid-19 – Daily Attendance Report
Download the report by clicking the link and saving it using ‘Save As’, unzip it, load it into SIMS via Reports | Import. Running this report will give the daily figures for the entries in the ‘Educational Status Setting Form’ as shown in the table above.
For further information on the additional codes 7,8 & 9 see : Using Attendance Codes 7, 8 & 9
NB The patch 25863 can be applied to system where the SIMS Spring Release 2020 is already in place. Capita are now working on replacing this patch with patch 25870 which can be applied both on systems where the SIMS Spring Release is already in place and system where the SIMS Autumn Release 2019 is still in place.
