Excel Part 1 – An entry level introduction for delegates with little of no experience of using Excel.

Elements of The Excel Interface – What is Excel, What does it do, how is it used.  An introduction to Excel and the elements you will be using on this course.

Create a Basic Worksheet – Open a Worksheet and populate with data.

Create Formulas in a Worksheet (performing calculations and other simple operations)

  • The Formula Bar – .Where to find the options for creating formulas. What is a formula?  Formulas can be simple, like adding two cell values, or quite complex, involving multiple mathematical operations
  • Elements of An Excel Formula – how to build a formula to do what you want to do in am excel Spreadsheet
  • Common Mathematical Operators – SUM, Percentage, etc.
  • The Order of Operators – How to build a formula so it works properly.
  • Insert Functions in A Worksheet – The purpose of a function is to provide you with an easy way to perform a complex calculation
  • The Functions Library – What functions are available to suit your needs.
  • Common Functions in Excel – The most popular and commonly used functions.
  • Formula Autofill Feature – How to use one formula on multiple sections
  • Reuse Formulas – Copy a formula from one section to another.

Cut, Copy and Paste – How to cut, copy and paste in Excel.

  • Paste Special Options – other ways of pasting.

Relative (Such references are flexible in that they change depending upon the position of the formula) and Absolute Cell References – (make sure a formula always references the same location, no matter where it is moved)
