We understand that people have different learning styles, you may prefer to receive your training interactively from one of our experienced trainers or take it at your own pace by enrolling onto one of Scomis Self-Directed courses. Scomis offer a wide variety of Tutor Led training delivered by our Scomis MIS Specialists as well as Self-Directed Learning via our Digital Learning Platform, ScoLearn, designed to complement our Tutor Led Training. Below is a list of all our current training opportunities available for you. All remote Scomis Tutor Led Training courses require delegates to use a PC with a camera and microphone. Headsets are recommended. Many of our courses need pre-course checks to be carried out to ensure delegates can access the training environment. Instructions are sent to delegates when bookings are confirmed.

Academic Management - Tutor Led Training
This course explores procedures for allocating students to classes, including bands and curriculum structures once the timetable for the new academic year has been sent into SIMS. It includes maintaining class memberships throughout the year. The functionality of class list and timetable printing in SIMS, and the curriculum analysis reports, are also covered. A PC with a camera and a headset with a microphone are required for all our training courses.

Advanced Reporting with Excel Analysis - Tutor Led Training
Maximise the power of your SIMS reports, by using predefined Excel templates to analyse data more effectively. Using SIMS, you can create reports covering a wide range of student data including pupil characteristics, SEN, attendance, assessment results, and conduct (behaviour and achievement). These reports can be designed to output as Excel spreadsheets. Excel can then be used to further format and analyse the output provided by SIMS. Excel formulas can calculate additional values and/or summarise the data, and pivot tables can provide an interactive method of investigating the data. A PC with a camera and a headset with a microphone are required for all our training courses.

Alternative Curriculum - Tutor Led Training
The Alternative Curriculum course deals with the creation of alternate activities in Nova-T which replace some scheduled classes for some students, the placement of students into them in SIMS and the consequential effect on other areas within SIMS. It is aimed at timetablers and data managers with a working knowledge of the Academic Management area of SIMS and a basic knowledge of Nova-T. A PC with a camera and a headset with a microphone are required for all our training courses.

Assessment - Online learning
The course covers the essential skills needed to build and implement an assessment system in school. It will examine how SIMS Assessment can be used to create a customised tracking system for different key stages and explore the potential of SIMS Assessment. The presentation covers the essential skills needed to build and implement an assessment system in school. It will examine how SIMS Assessment can be used to create a customised tracking system for different key stages and explore the potential of SIMS Assessment, using the mapping tool and ESS analysis reports.

Behaviour Management in SIMS - Online learning
Behaviour Management in SIMS is used to help record, monitor and manage the behaviour within your school. It is separated into Behaviour Incidents and Achievements.
Self-directed digital learning
Course Manager in SIMS - Tutor Led Training
Designed to support schools with and without Post-16 provision, this course explores how the Course Management functionality of SIMS links the areas of Nova-T, academic management, assessment and Examinations Organiser. This course is offered as a morning only or full day course (for schools with a post 19 provision). The morning session is suitable for data managers and administrators in all secondary schools. The afternoon session builds on the first session and is suitable for secondary schools with sixth forms who have responsibility for preparing and producing the post-16 elements for the autumn census. A PC with a camera and a headset with a microphone are required for all our training courses.
