Before enrolling in any training, it’s important to understand what specific skills or knowledge you’re looking to gain. Identify areas where you feel you need improvement or where new skills would benefit you.
Review the list of Scomis training courses provided. You can filter by course category and job role, consider selecting courses that align with your job responsibilities and learning goals.
Based on your learning preferences, decide whether you want to take tutor-led training or self-directed courses. Tutor-led training involves real-time interaction with trainers, while self-directed courses allow you to learn at your own pace.
If you’re opting for remote tutor-led training, ensure that your computer meets the technical requirements. This often involves having a camera, microphone, and a stable internet connection. Follow any pre-course instructions provided to ensure you can access the training environment.
Once you’ve identified the courses that best match your needs and preferences, proceed with enrolling in or registering for those courses. Follow the instructions provided by Scomis for the enrolment process.

The course deals with the creation of alternate activities in Nova-T, the placement of students into them in SIMS and the consequential effect on other areas within SIMS.

Assessment and Progress in SIMS for Secondary Schools - Tutor Led Presentation
The presentation covers the essential skills needed to build and implement an assessment system in school. It will examine how SIMS Assessment can be used to create a customised tracking system for different key stages and explore the potential of SIMS Assessment, using the mapping tool and ESS analysis reports.

Attendance for New Users - Tutor Led Training
Attendance provides schools with an integrated classroom and administration tool to monitor students’ attendance and behaviour. The Attendance module in a Primary school is used to record statutory attendance of AM and PM sessions. Using SIMS Attendance can help schools reduce truancy and improve safeguarding while monitoring behaviour trends in the classroom, facilitating early intervention where necessary.

Course Manager in SIMS - Tutor Led Training
Designed to support schools without Post-16 provision, this course explores how the Course Management functionality of SIMS links the areas of Nova-T, Academic Management and Examinations Organiser. Course Manager with Post-16 Learning Aims in SIMS-Tutor Led Training
This course explores how the Course Manager functionality of SIMS links areas such as Nova-T, academic management and Examinations Organiser, including procedures for supporting the maintenance of post-16 learning aims data to ensure the appropriate funding for the school. We strongly recommend schools to have someone in charge of Course Manager.

Discover- Analytical Graphs in SIMS - Tutor Led Training
Explore the power of Graphical Analysis using SIMS Discover. Create Analytical Charts through a simple drag and drop interface. Interrogate your data, and prepare easy to view reports for your Senior Leadership Team or Governors. SIMS Discover is an analysis tool that takes data from SIMS and presents it as a series of predefined graphs. These graphs can then be manipulated and combined to create additional graphs.

Domestic Exams in SIMS - Tutor Led Training
This course details how SIMS Examinations Organiser can be used to manage domestic (internal/mock/PPE) examinations. The purpose of a domestic exam season in Examinations Organiser is to extend the functionality available for public exams to domestic exams. This course covers the initial planning and preparation for these exams, creating basedata, managing candidates, making entries, and arranging seating. It also explores links to SIMS Assessment.

Examinations Organiser Training Series (SIMS) - Session 1: Setting up Examinations Organiser - Tutor Led Training
Examinations Organiser supports all aspects of managing external examinations. This course covers reviewing the setup of the software, importing and structuring basedata, creating and submitting files for entries, coursework marks, and managing and seating candidates. We've broken the course down into key tasks throughout the academic year. You can choose to attend all sessions or just the ones you wish to refresh your knowledge on. This course is Session 1 of 3 and focuses on Setting up Examinations Organiser. A PC with a camera and a headset with a microphone is required for all our training courses.
