Our Awards and Accreditations
Our awards and accreditations are not just a rubber stamp. They provide us with an opportunity to receive constructive advice and guidance from organisations that are recognised globally as renowned experts in their fields. Most of the accreditations we choose to undertake are structured so that each year we are subject to scrutiny and as the frameworks used are regularly reviewed and updated, we are most definitely kept on our toes!
We are accredited and work to several industry best practice standards, including:
Customer Services Excellence (CSE)
We first achieved accreditation with the Customer Services Excellence Programme in 2012 and this marked the start of our journey of continuous service improvement. Building on the success of our education teams, and a desire to ensure that we are offering service excellence to all of our customers we gained accreditation across all the teams within the Scomis Group during 2018. The award is a Government initiative that aims to help us deliver excellent customer focused services and to keep the customer at the core of what we do. To maintain the award, we are assessed on one third of the CSE criteria each year as part of a three-year rolling programme.
In 2016, Scomis achieved certification to the ISO 27001 standard for Information technology — Security techniques — Information security management systems — Requirements. This international standard demonstrates the commitment and importance Scomis attributes to safeguarding data. To become compliant and maintain the certification, Scomis must demonstrate a high level of documentation of their management of security, which includes policies, procedures, plans and records. The ISO 27001 certification is valid for three years from award and we are subject to rigorous surveillance audits annually, by an external Auditor, out last one being in January 2021.
ITIL is a professionally recognised certification scheme. The ITIL approach advocates that IT and digital services are aligned to the needs of the business and supports our objectives to deliver value to our customers. Scomis invests in adopting and adapting ITIL into business practices and upskilling our workforce with ITIL qualifications.
Service Desk Institute (SDI)
We first achieved Service Desk Industry certification in 2016 for this globally recognised award that recognises best practice. Compliance with the standard enables us to demonstrate to our customers that our service operation is truly dedicated to delivering excellent service and business value. The main SDI audit is carried out once every three years and two further surveillance audits are conducted in years two and three.

The Bett Awards showcase world leading education technology services and solutions. Having been a finalist for several years, we were delighted to be chosen as the winner of the ICT Service and Support category in 2016 and to be shortlisted again in 2021 in the following categories:
Leadership and Management Solutions
We entered this category with our new web-based Managed Reporting Service which has been specifically designed to provide Multi Academy Trusts (MATs) and school leaders easy access to key data to inform decision making and drive improved outcomes. This service has been designed in response to real challenges that our customers have asked us to help them with.
Service and Support
We focused our application on evidence of continuous service improvement and customer service excellence including our consistently outstanding levels of customer satisfaction, collaboration with schools and examples of higher standards achieved.
We are extremely proud that we have been recognised by the judges in a market sector where we compete with leading commercial providers.

Scomis is accredited by Education Software Solutions (ESS) for the provision of services for their Management Information System, SIMS. To achieve this accreditation, we must satisfy a stringent set of quality-based requirements which are then validated with our customers through a survey to check that we are providing a quality, value-for-money service.

British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA)
BESA is the trade association for the UK education suppliers sector. BESA believes schools deserve peace of mind when they buy products from their members. That’s why they ensure every company that applies to become a BESA member fulfils their rigorous membership criteria. This includes compliance with the BESA Code of Practice. Our membership of BESA further endorses our reputation of being a trusted ICT partner to schools.

Institute of School Business Leadership (ISBL)
We are proud to be authorised as an Approved ISBL Partner, the professional body for school business leaders. We support ISBL and their membership through the provision of advice about topical ICT related challenges, at events around the country, their national annual conference, presentations and writing articles for the Voice which is the Institute’s regular publication.
