New User in SIMS – Tutor Led Training

A school’s management information system (MIS) holds a vast amount of data, which if accurately maintained can be used to inform school improvement strategies and guide a wide range of school management activities including processing. At the end of the New User in SIMS courses, attendees will have the skills to use SIMS in the school office more effectively and efficiently.

Please note we have recently taken the decision to deliver two separate courses for new users of SIMS. The SIMS New User Basic course is aimed at any member of staff new to using SIMS and is ideal for newly appointed administrators and teachers. The SIMS New User Intermediate course is aimed at administrators with some working knowledge of SIMS and for those members of staff who have been using SIMS but would like to know how to use it more effectively to save time.

  • Finding your way around SIMS
  • Configuring the SIMS home page
  • Looking up pupil information
  • Creating a new pupil record
  • Making day-to-day adjustments to pupil details

SIMS New User Intermediate Content

  • Running basic SIMS reports
  • Dealing with leavers and admissions including CTF export and import
  • Handling exclusions
  • Introduction to SIMS User Defined Fields and SIMS User Defined Groups
  • Introduction to SIMS housekeeping routines
